|| Welcome to the Gold Coast
Amateur Radio Association
The GCARA is one of the oldest ham radio
clubs in South Florida with a growing membership of about 251 licensed operators. The club was founded in 1969 by its first trustee, Charles D. Ritchie, (Chuck) (W4BUG) SK, back when amateur radio, VHF, UHF, and HF repeaters were a technical challenge.
Keep in mind that the amateur radio operator is often the unseen hero during emergencies when other means fail to operate. In this high technology information age, there is still a need for the dedicated amateur, and our club stands ready to provide any public service communications should it be called upon to do so.
We have been fortunate to receive a few donations but, they will not last forever. If you are in arrears, please pay your dues and remain in good standing with the club.

The Gold Coast Amateur Radio Assn. meeting will be held on Tuesday September 26th at 7:30 p.m. at Imperial Point Hospital in the auditorium. Testing is at 6:00 p.m. and the latest to arrive is 6:15 p.m.
The Guest Speaker, Kai Siwiak, KE4PT. The theme is: "Connect a personal computer equipped with a sound card, or other analog-to-digital converter, to your teen-aged or younger transceiver, and you have a basic Software Defined Radio (SDR) System. It enables a multitude of digital modes on your system that dramatically enhance the performance of the radio. A recent DX adventure relied on just such an SDR system, along with additional software for predicting HF propagation. This SDR system increased the sensitivity of the system, while propagation software accurately predicted the communications outcome of the adventure. Here is the story of that hardware and software."
There will be coffee and doughnuts and a 50 50 drawing at the meeting. Members arrive early to eat before the meeting in the cafeteria.
